It is with immense pride that we share the recent presentation of the B2-InF project by one of our consortium partners, Jose Miguel Carrasco from APLICA Coop, during the XLI Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (Sociedad Española de Epidemiología -SEE-). The presentation titled “Recommendations for health authorities and assisted reproduction clinics to align information with public concerns” garnered considerable attention from attendees. This influential research was the collective effort of authors Carrasco JM, March S, Albert M, Tapia MR, Farfán J, Hens K, Rozee V, Barrett N, and Güell F.
The event took place in the beautiful city of Oporto, Portugal, from September 5th to 8th. And to add a cherry on top of this achievement, our presentation received one of the top 4 “Emilio Perea” prizes for best senior presentations at the conference!
The XLI Annual Meeting was not just another event; it was the celebration of the 10-year journey of the SEE-APE collaboration. Gathering in the historic city of Porto, participants from across the region engaged in deep, thoughtful discussions about the current state and future trajectory of epidemiology. The conference stood as a testament to the power and beauty of epidemiological science and practice, highlighting the invaluable contributions made by epidemiologists and public health professionals daily.
One of the defining features of the conference was its emphasis on inclusivity and social impact. There were rich discussions focused on ensuring that the Epidemiology and Public Health research findings and breakthroughs are shared with society and influence the policymakers. The organizers and participants alike shared a strong sentiment for enhancing public participation. Epidemiology and Public Health are not issues to be worked exclusively in closed rooms; it is about taking it to the people, fostering a collective vision of building a healthier, more equitable, and more inclusive world.
